Warsaw Rotary Club’s Earth Day Cleanup in the (Trash) Bag
The Warsaw Rotary Club’s first annual Earth Day Cleanup Campaign was a resounding success and will be held again on Earth Day in 2026. Warsaw Rotarians, along with volunteers from Old Rappahannock Brewing Company, cleaned up an approximately one-mile section of Naylors Beach Road on both sides of the Cat Point Creek bridge adjacent to Wayne Morris’s crab house. That afternoon, Old Rapp Brewery hosted a social event to celebrate the Earth Day Cleanup.
“The Warsaw Rotary Club is all about community service,” said Club President Doug Jenkins. “We all came away from the Earth Day Cleanup with a tremendous sense of satisfaction from helping to keep Richmond County beautiful. We want to encourage any Richmond County resident who is interested in giving back to the community to join the Rotary Club and get involved.”
“We applaud the Warsaw Rotary Club and the other volunteers who participated in the roadside cleanup in Richmond County on Earth Day,” said Richmond County Administrator Hope Mothershead. “Coupled with the countywide cleanups organized by VDOT several times a year, these efforts help keep Richmond County beautiful. We all have an important role to play in discouraging littering and keeping our county beautiful. I encourage all Richmond County residents to take a few minutes to safely pick up litter not only on Earth Day but whenever they can.”
The Warsaw Rotary Club holds a number of other community service events annually including their Flags for Heroes Campaign on Memorial Day, July 4th, and Veterans Day; the annual Oyster Roast in September, Salvation Army bell ringing at local merchants around Christmas, and a scholarship program for Rappahannock High School seniors. The Warsaw Rotary Club welcomes new members who are interested in opportunities for community service.
